I really love the autumn season cause I always get into a cozy mood. The nature gets pretty with all the lovely tree colors and how about the fashion. I love the fashion during autumn cause I like wearing more cozy clothes.
But there is a few other things I enjoy and I want to share a list of my top 5 of things to do on a fall day.
Read a book
Reading is something I for sure can do anytime, but a chilly fall day it feels extra cozy. Light some wood in the stove, cozy clothes, take a blanket with you to the sofa and crawl under it with a exciting book. Yes please, I’m totally up for it!
Watch a romantic movie
I like watching thrillers, action, adventure and comedy movies. But fall always makes me in a romantic mode, so a nice romantic movie is a must. You’ve Got Mail, Sweet Home Alabama and The Notebook are three movie titles of romance that I like to watch.
Planner and Memory Planner Time
Hi, I’m Jeanette and I’m addicted to planners 🙂 Yes, I’m a totally plannerbabe and I’m a happy planner fan which really loves The Happy Planner line by Me And My Big Ideas, everything about their planners and all planner goodies is amazing. Love to sit down, have a YouTube video on in the background that I watch at the same time that I decorate and plan my week with cute stickers. Love those moments and in the fall I sure use a lot of pretty fall stickers and colors in my planner ♥
I also memory keeping in a memory planner and it is so nice to keep document small moments from each week.
Baking is a great thing to do and I like to do that with my daughters. My 9 year old really enjoys baking, so I try to do that from time to time. Making apple pies and yummy cinnamon buns is great to do during fall.
Latte and YouTube
To watch Youtube videos is something I really like to do and it doesn’t go ONE day without me watching some kind of video from channels I follow 🙂 Love watching planner videos and book related videos. Two of my hobbies I enjoy the most.
This is my 5 top of things to do on a fall day and now I’m curious to know what you enjoy doing a cold or chilly fall day?
If you didn’t already know, I can tell you that reading books and listen to audiobooks is something I highly enjoy and like to do when I wish to relax.
Want to share the latest great book with you that I really enjoyed and rated 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5.
Everything, Everything – Nicola Yoon
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster. (Goodreads)
I read this in two sittings and really enjoyed it alot. For sure an easy read and it’s the perfect book if you are looking for something sweet to read 🙂
The only small negative thing I can come up with is that you always know how the book ends, but who cares…right?! It still can be an enjoyable book to read and this one is great 🙂
There also is a movie out on Netflix. I haven’t seen it, but hope to do it soon. Have you watched the movie? I have no idea if the movie is just as good as the book, but I’m glad I chose to read the book first.
Hope you had a lovely weekend. Myself, I were supposed to be working this weekend but I ended up getting sick instead. Second time around this month that I’m getting a cold and with a fever. So, my weekend were all about resting and just taking it easy.
I still isn’t quite well from it, so I will need a couple of days more for resting. But I hope you’ve had a lovely time and is healthy and ready for a new week 🙂
Let’s dig into the subject Capsule Wardrobe. I’m the kind of person that never had a lot of clothes, not during my adult life anyway. I’ve always liked practical items that mostly fit together with my other clothes. And my style has always been pretty simple, I’m scared of too much of prints and I play it safe with colors. As I don’t have a huge closet, I like that my clothes combine well together and I wear a lot of black, grey, blue and from time to time a little pink and natural colors.
But with all trends I see and different outfits on people when I’m out has many times got me thinking that I’m so boring, my clothes have no personality at all and I feel so dull with my outfits and that I’m too safe and comfortable. It has happened that I’ve purchased items just because it is a trend, but ended up me not like it at all cause it’s just not me!
apsule wardrobe is a new term for me and I’m so happy that I’m starting to get to know it and I’ve been researching a lot, like watching Youtube, read blogs with content about it and found great inspiration on Pinterest. It has been a totally eye-opening for me cause this is just what I need and should be doing. It’s the natural step of my minimalism journey 🙂
I don’t need to downsize the amount of clothes, cause my wardrobe is minimal enough already. The change I will do is to change my way of thinking. I need to stop thinking that my style is dull, that I have to like different prints and use a lot of colors to be trendy, I need to be uncomfortable to actually have a style 🙂 Because I thought I had no style at all.
But people who use the capsule wardrobe way have learned me that my way of thinking about fashion is crazy. Laid back and comfortable outfits is also fashion, that you can do so much with fewer items. Also that your lifestyle should reflect your outfits. You shouldn’t own all of this trendy stuff, pretty dresses, high heels, and nice accessories when you live a laid-back and comfortable life. Now I do see this more clearly and having a capsule wardrobe is what I want and need to allow myself to actually dress and be the person that I am 🙂
I shouldn’t beenworrying about that I don’t follow each new trend that comes a long each season or every other week, cause it’s not healthy and clothing should be the last thing in your life that you should be worrying about…right?!
What is Capsule Wardrobe?
A short description of what it means is a wardrobe consisting of a minimal amount of items that you can mix and match, making the maximum amount of outfits. So you have this minimal wardrobe where every item can mix and match together in many different outfits and you love and enjoy each item you own and wear. You shop more conscious, so you don’t waste money on clothes because you see something that you “think” you want and need.
With a capsule wardrobe, you really enjoy every piece and you actually wear everything on a daily basis, and you don’t have to spend any time on planning what you should wear, cause everything goes great together and you have this awesome well-planned wardrobe. And the best thing is that you have no clothes in your wardrobe that take any unnecessary space 🙂
The blog Un Fancy is a great resource when it comes to mindful style and you can find so much useful information about this subject and I highly recommend you to check it out!
Capsule Wardrobe goes in hand with a minimalist way of thinking, as you want to live a more simplified life. But you don’t need to be a minimalist for using this way about your clothing.
As I had a lot of time this weekend when I was resting, I was able to plan and create an Autumn Capsule Wardrobe for myself, with the things I already have and I also did some online shopping for basic pieces to add for my capsule. The sweater and cami are from ASOS and the four pieces below are from Mango. As you can see I went for those colors that I’m most comfortable in and they all go really well together. I don’t use camel or golden-brown color too much, but that color reflects autumn to me and I feel that a cozy sweater in an autumn color will be a great addition to my wardrobe 🙂
Now you may wonder why I choose colors that I don’t use so much, it may sound the opposite of what I’ve been writing above 🙂
I see this change will give me a wider room to explore what my actual style is. I still need to work on to define what kind of style I have and what I like, so I wish to try different colors, models, and fabrics and see what works for me or not. If I don’t like that sweater in that color, I can just send it back. You may have this vision of what your season capsule wish to look like, but you don’t have to stick to it. You can change by taking away or add pieces along the way. There are people who are strict about it and there are people who are not that strict.
I will still have a minimal wardrobe, but I will allow myself to put away or add pieces when I feel the need for it. There is also information that you should change your wardrobe every 3 months for different seasons and that the amount of clothing is around 37 pieces. You can do whatever you want about that. If you need to get something within that period…do so and if you need less or more pieces than 37…go ahead. You can do what works the best for you!
I wish to save money, so I don’t want to get new clothes that often. I want to have pieces that I won’t get tired of and want to make sure that I have clothes, for now, that will work perfectly for autumn and winter. But if I notice that I sure could need another cozy sweater, I will allow myself to get it. The main thing for me is to simplify my outfit options, I don’t want to think about what to wear on special occasions, cause I will only have 1 or 2 options for it anyhow which I love and it will be pieces that I truly love wearing 🙂
Even that this will be a new experience for me I hope to cover this subject more while I learn, to share inspiration and ideas with you readers. So I hope you want to know more and will may find this interesting cause I sure do and think I will enjoy to write about this subject.
Do you have any experience with capsule wardrobe? Please share below as it’s fun to know how it works for others 🙂
“Minimalism is the process of identifying what is essential in your life and eliminating the rest” (Quote by: The Minimalist Vegan)
When I think about it, I’ve always had a little minimalism in me as there are areas in my life where I keep it very simple. I only use practical clothes that I know I can wear several times and that goes with other items in my closet. My style is very simple and more on the basic side rather than stylish and what is trending.
I don’t have a overflow of underwear and socks, I don’t like to spend money on it so I use what I have until it is worn out. I only own one handbag at a time and I have no more than 3 pair of shoes as I prefer comfort shoes. No high heels for me 🙂 My makeup are very simple as I mostly only use mascara, white eyeliner and one lipgloss or one lipstick.
So you see, when it comes to myself and my style…I am pretty minimalistik.
I didn’t realize it before I recently decided that I want to simplify my life.
But even if I’m pretty minimal with my own shopping and style, I do have areas that I know I can do better with. We have stuff in our home that I want to declutter, cause I want to enjoy my free time much better. So tired of cleaning, tidying daily and put stuff on place (that get messy straight away again), when I wish to come home, relax and enjoy my time after a day of work. Both me and my husband are working full time.
I know I can reduce the time on tidying to be less and make more time for other things. This is part of the mindful lifestyle I’m looking for 🙂
We have stuff that we keep “just because” and we need to declutter and get rid of those things.
Our youngest daughter doesn’t have to have like 40-50 stuffed toys/animals when she only have a few favorites. I don’t need to have books on my shelf that hasn’t been read and I problably will never do. (My mother will be happy as she will get some :)) And we sure don’t have to have overfilled kitchen cabinets with 20 drink glasses and 30 jars with spices (several with double or triple with the same spices) and ugly old plates which we rately uses.
So yes, we do have spaces in our home that sure need decluttering. I want our things to be only stuff that we really care about, that we easy can find and use on a regulary basis. Tired of having meaningless stuff that take over and that just stressing me out.
Yesterday I did a little decluttering with my underwear, makeup and skin care. Today I got rid of a old toilet shelf storage with wheels that we’ve had about 11 years that’s been just a dump place for toilet crap and dust 🙂 I was so tired this evening after work, dinner and a shower. But I decided yesterday that today I will throw it out and what a relief it was when I found new place for my husbands things who were on that shelf and I could get rid of it.
He were a little nervous about where his stuff were supposed to be, but now he think it looks better too 🙂 So glad that I did it cause as I felt tired I could push that task for later and I don’t want to do that anymore. When it only takes 5-10 minutes…why wait?!
I will take small steps forward to make our life more simple in our home and save money by using more simple supplies and use more natural products. Declutter what I can and be more aware of what things we actual bring into our home. No wasting money on bargins we don’t have use of, just because it’s a good price. No, it’s time to make good choices, save money, be careful and make good decisions.
Fewer things that we love. Less Is More and it is so true.
Are you a minimalist? If so, what made you to take that decision to start with that lifestyle? 🙂
I thought the first post on the blog would be a good start to do a presentation of the beginning of my new journey to a mindful life.
Mindfulness is a very hyped word (that’s the feeling I have for it) and it’s nothing wrong with that. It’s a word that we all should be aware of and I noticed it pretty recently. But I wish I were more familiar with it before, but a funny thing is that I did start practice mindfulness last year without even think about it 🙂
I had a terrible period last fall at work, I were so stressed out and I felt anxiety each time I had to go to work and I felt bad and didn’t sleep well. I started to look into something that could help me feel better, something that could help me relax and stop worrying when I was at home. I wanted to keep my work stuff at work and be more present and calm at home!
That was the time when I tried yoga for the first time. And the way that I felt after each yoga practice was priceless, to let go of my mind and just be in that moment really helped me a lot for coping the hard stuff. And at the same time, I felt better in the body as it really helped with the tense I had.
Another thing that I started with and really got the passion for was reading. I about 1,5 years ago I wanted to get back into reading books, cause I didn’t read anything besides on blogs and social media. I did like to read when I was younger, but when I started to get a family I stopped. I wanted to find the passion in reading again and I sure did, I started to buy my own books and read a lot and a small dream I have is to get a home library/craft room 🙂 So happy that I’ve been able to maintain it until this day and that I haven’t got bored with books and reading. It’s so much fun and it’s relaxing as well.
These two things I did incorporate into my life without knowing that they are mindful choices 🙂
Lately, as I noticed mindfulness and self-care I also have incorporated journaling and meditation into my life. I started to write diary when I was in my daughter’s age, like 9 or 10 years old. And I did that for a few years, but as an adult, I’ve never had a journal beside bullet journaling. But journaling is a huge thing and you may not believe it, but there are so many people who keep journals as adults and it really is meaningful. I couldn’t see that before, but recently when I decided to start journaling on my own I see why it’s important. Now, I look forward to each moment I get to journal 🙂
Meditation is very new to me, but I want to practice that as well as yoga and meditation goes like hand in hand somehow. They are not exactly the same, but the purpose is the same and I’m curious about it and want to give meditation a place in my life as well.
As you can understand, I’m far from a professional in this area 🙂 I just wish to share my journey to a mindful life and give inspiration and ideas to others who may need to incorporate some mindfulness in their life too.
What is mindfulness?
Being present in the moment by remaining aware of our thoughts, physical sensations, and our environmental surroundings.
